Decide to Defend: Bodily Autonomy For Trans Youth!

There are moments when we must return to first truths.
That our bodies are our own. That care is a right.
That freedom begins in the ability to say: this is who I am, and I decide what I need.
That our bodies are our own. That care is a right.
That freedom begins in the ability to say: this is who I am, and I decide what I need.
We are in such a moment now.
Trans and queer youth are under attack not only by courts and policies, but by a culture that fears what it cannot control. And yet, even in the face of this, young people continue to lead with clarity, creativity, and courage. They are asking the rest of us to choose something more honest. More generous. More alive.

And yet, even in the face of this, young people continue to lead with clarity, creativity, and courage. They are asking the rest of us to choose something more honest. More generous. More alive.
So we make this covenant as a moral promise, shared responsibility and collective remembering.
We commit:
- To protect the right of every person, especially TQ2S+ young people, to inhabit their body fully and freely.
- To recognize gender-affirming care as a form of love, not debate.
- To respond to fear and violence with presence, with protection, with a long and durable kind of care.
- To speak and act from wherever we are: in classrooms, clinics, homes, faith spaces, courtrooms, and foundations.
This is a calling for all of us.
For funders, to invest in the leadership of those most targeted.
For teachers and advisors, to build safety into the fabric of every learning space.
For healthcare workers, to defend the sacred trust between a person and their care.
For parents and guardians, to love without fear and advocate for the ones you love.
For public officials, to remember the people they serve, not the systems they protect.
For all of us, to choose alignment over silence.

And for young people, especially trans, queer, and Two-Spirit youth
we are listening. We are following. You are not alone.
we are listening. We are following. You are not alone.
This covenant is just the beginning.
Our health and our care is in our hands.
Our health and our care is in our hands.
Why is this important?
Now is the time to show up for TQ2S+ youth because silence is compliance, and compliance with this administration is violence.
The Supreme Court just upheld Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for youth. It’s cruel, dangerous, and part of a growing effort to legislate trans people out of public life. We cannot let that happen not in our names, not in our communities.
