Having Gender Neutral Bathrooms throughout LBUSD

Having Gender Neutral Bathrooms throughout LBUSD

To be able to give trans and gender non conforming students their rights to privacy and not have to go to a gendered, biased bathroom if they are uncomfortable.

Why is this important?

Access to bathrooms is about human rights and we in the trans community want to be able to use the bathroom without having to go to gendered ones. We should be able to use a bathroom in peace and not in fear at a public institution as protected under CA Education Code and CA State Law AB 1732.

How it will be delivered

By partnering with LBUSD to devise plans and blueprints on making this happen for the upcoming school year in the fall.

Reasons for signing

  • I signed because I believe that everyone should be allowed to feel comfortable in their own skin. A good friend of mine is a trans male. He gets beaten up if he goes into the men's bathroom, or screamed at if he goes to the women's bathroom. It's so disturbing. Everyone should just be allowed to live in their own way
  • Cuz thats just unfair
  • To be honest I signed because I want everyone to be equal❤️ I don’t like how people treat other people just because their sexuality. I’m a straight person, I have a lot gay friends, I love them so much. I don’t like how people judge them just because of that. I signed because of that.

Hello everyone! I apologize for this late update. Our student led committee in collaboration with the Center of Long Beach, LBUSD, and the Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Tiffany Brown. It has took some time and 2 years full of support from the community and the dedication from the committee, WE NOW HAVE IT! Thank you all so much for signing this petition and continuing to stand in solidarity with our trans and queer youth.
