GSA Network understands that the privacy of our visitors to all GSA Network sites, including gsanetwork.org, unite.gsanetwork.org and ourtranstruth.org. This policy explains our practices for collecting information, use and disclosure of the information you provide. By visiting GSA Network websites you accept the practices outlined in this statement.

What information do you collect about me? How do you use that information?

GSA Network collects aggregate information about site usage and users, including day, time, length of visit and type of device (mobile, desktop) used. Our server automatically collects and records IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for all users to our site to track and block hacking attempts. This data is used to help us improve the website performance and user experience.

We also collect the personal information that you provide to us about yourself through event registrations and other forms on our website. This information can include but is not limited to: your name, email address, physical address, phone numbers. This information is stored in our database.

Contact us if you would like us to update or delete the information we keep about you. We reserve the right to keep a copy of your personal information to comply with our record-keeping obligations at law.

GSA Network fully complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect identifiable personal information from children under age 13. If we discover that a person under the age of 13 has provided us with any personally identifiable information, we will immediately delete that information from our systems. We are unable to reply to information requests directly from children under the age of 13, if so identified. A parent or guardian must initiate any requests for information from children under the age of 13 on their behalf. We encourage parents to supervise children when they browse the Internet.

To build the GSA Movement, GSA Network partners with organizations across the country. By sharing your information with us through the National GSA registry, you agree to allow your information to be shared with our partner organization in your state or region. Partner organizations are required to sign an agreement agreeing that “No contact information found in or from the GSA Registry database can be traded, sold, shared, or provided to third parties or other persons not granted [explicit] access” by GSA Network.

What do you do with my personal information?

Information is collected to:

  1. process your request to create and/or sign campaigns on our website and identify you as a supporter of these campaigns;
  2. send you information that may be of interest to you, including but not limited to:
    • the features of our website;
    • programs and resources;
    • information about youth-led campaigns and causes (including campaigns created by others on our website and/or campaigns by our trusted partners);
  3. maintain our relationship with you (for example, by responding to your questions);
  4. create and maintain records for our internal accounting and administration purposes.

If you do not provide personal information, we may not be able to send these resources and updates to you.

Will you give my personal information to anyone else?

In our Terms of Service, we explain the circumstances under which your personal information is disclosed to third parties. We recommend that you read our Terms of Service carefully.

In particular, please be aware that if you sign a campaign on our GSAs Unite website, your name, post code and other personal information you choose to post (such as your mobile phone number) will be available to the creator of the campaign, who may disclose your personal information to the individual(s) or organization(s) being petitioned or otherwise publish, broadcast, communicate and display publicly your involvement in the campaign. Where appropriate and at our discretion, we may also disclose your email address to the creator of the campaign for the purpose of providing it to decision makers or presenting the petition to the individual or organization being petitioned. Your personal information is available to other users on our website so that you can connect with others who share the same values and care about the same causes.

We also share your personal information with third parties we engage to help us run aspects of our organization efficiently. This includes volunteers, suppliers and service providers who assist us with managing our website and IT infrastructure. All third parties who have access to your personal information are bound by confidentiality agreements.

Except as outlined in this Privacy Policy or as required by law, we do not give your personal information to any third parties unless you have given us your consent.

Will you use my information for any other purpose?

Occasionally, we may use your personal information for other purposes (and/or share your information with a third party) because we believe it is necessary to do so, in these circumstances:

  1. to protect the rights, property or personal safety of our users, employees, volunteers or any member of the public;
  2. to prevent or help detect fraud or serious credit infringements;
  3. to protect our interests (e.g. disclosing information to a court); or
  4. if the assets and operations of our business are being transferred to another party as a going concern.

How we protect your data and information.

GSA Network securely stores your personal information in a database that is protected against loss, theft, misuse, or misrepresentation. Access to our database is limited to GSA Network staff and specific, qualified partner representatives. From time to time we may share limited information that you have provided to vendors to ensure adequate resources for events and other activities.

Additionally, when you contribute to GSA Network online, through our website, your information transmits via a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to prevent fraud.

While we take reasonable steps to keep your personal information secure, we can't give you an absolute guarantee that your information is always secure as no data sent over the internet is 100% secure. We will not be responsible for any liability, loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your information.
